Laptop says connected to wifi but, doesn't load webpage.

So i have windows 8. I try to go on the internet but, it doesn't load the page (with google chrome and IE). I have brought it to friends house's and have tried ether net too, nothing works. I can still get emails.

My roommate had a laptop that had the same problem that I spent hours trying to solve. I have a couple of usb wireless adapters I decided to try and before I could install the software it was up and running. I never did figure out what the issue was. I thought it might have been something with Windows 8.1 but I have a laptop with 8.1 on it and never had a problem over the same network.

Open "Internet Options" and under the connections tab hit the LAN Settings and make sure that "automatically detect settings" is enabled.
