I have an Alienware M11x laptop with 8Gb RAM, Nvidia Geforce GT 335M graphics card, and Dual core 1.3 GHz processor. The benchmark game for this model is left 4 dead 2, which should run smoothly at moderate settings. But even on the lowest settings the framerate is so bad it's unplayable. Same goes for many other not-so-new games I've installed. All my drivers are current, I defragged the hard disk, and diagnostics says I don't have faulty hardware. What am I missing? It's driving me crazy not being able to game on a laptop I bought specifically for that purpose.

I have done all these things many times over with no noticeable increase in performance. Maybe a better question would be are the specs for my laptop adequate for casual gaming?
