i switch my computer on and all i can see is a black screen and the cursor i tryed the alt+f10 and still dosen't work any advise please.

It Might Be A Operating System(OS)_ Problem.

Try To Open In Safe Mode or With Command Promt (press F8 Function Key after Bios Post And Select Safe mode)
If Safe Mode Opens... Just Go To Command Prompt And Start CHKDSK in Force Mode For C Drive And Restart ..
