Hi guys, I have a Lenovo y50 laptop (8gb ram, 1tb hdd, etc) So my problem is since January 21 (Wednesday), my hard disk keeps on being undetected. My screen just freezes and then shuts down. After that, a blue message will pop on the screen saying Default boot device missing or boot failed. I don't know what to do so I unscrew my laptop's casing and try to tighten the hard disk chord and it would eventually work. This is what I've been doing for the past 2 days but I believe that this is only a short term help and I need my laptop when attending class. I'm afraid that it might happen while I'm inside the room. What should I do to stop my hard disk being undetected? Thanks guys!

Hey there, Marc!

If it's working flawlessly after you've reseated the cables to the HDD, it shouldn't cause you more issues.
You can still test the drive for health and SMART status, using the HDD manufacturer's diagnostics tool.
If the problem occurs again you should most probably consider getting a new SATA power cable for your HDD. However, I think if it comes to this you should take it to a professional repair services to help with the swapping of the cables.

I hope the tightening of the cables worked though!
Keep me posted if anything! :)
