Sennheiser PC350 Sounds Bad?

Hey, everyone.

I just got a set of Sennheiser PC350SE's in the mail today, plugged them in, and they honestly just sounded bad. Good bass, but everything else was not good at all. It sounded extremely flat, like music was being sung into a pillow. They're kinda quiet too, but not all that bad.

The point is, I have heard amazing things about this headset, but they don't even perform as good as my two year old Turtle Beach PX3s.

Now, I am using onboard sound and I don't have an amp. I can probably afford a cheap soundcard but there is no way I can get an amp. I'm sure both of those would make the headset sound amazing but I just don't have the money.

I'm strongly considering sending them back and just getting a pair of Logitech G930s, since they have good reviews, are wireless, and are USB (which, in my opinion, sound better).

Is there any way I can make this headset worth my money without spending too much more? What can I do to make it sound better?

Thanks for your help!

I own the PC350 (original), the PC360 and PC363D. While the PC350 was the weakest of the 3, it was by no means "bad"... I use integrated audio (Realtek chip) and thought they were decent.

While audio quality is subjective, I think you may have gotten a bad unit... That being said, get the PC360 if you can ($100 ish from ebay), they're significantly better.

I don't think that it is the unit, because I plugged it into my iPhone and it sounded much much better. Not perfect, but much better. As did the last headset that I had that I ended up sending back.

Not any time soon unfortunately. All I have readily available is my laptop and phone.
