Dead hard drive

My hard drive with Windows 2000 stopped working after I used a rescue disc from Windows 98SE. The drive is no longer recognized by the bios. I tried to access it with an adapter (USB TO IDE) without any luck. Is my drive ruined or is there a way I can recover from my stupid mistake? My main desire is to be able to use the drive, recovering the data or the OS is secondary.

I tried to make this post when I joined the site but can not fine it again. I apologize if this is a duplicate posting. Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated.

Why would want to use the drive? If you don't have back ups and want the data try

Hi there Loose Connect,

You can try attaching it to another system. If the HDD is again not recognized by the BIOS, I'm afraid you will have to get a new HDD(a SATA one). Also, the data recovery may be expensive as you will need to use the services of a data recovery company.
