Okay, so the developers of GTA V have recently announced the minimum and recommended specs for the PC version. Me and my friends have waited a long time for this, but I'm scared I won't be able to run it. My pc is pretty old, and my current graphics card is very bad (It's an NVIDIA GeForce GT 220) and I'm looking to for a graphics card that will be able to play GT V PC for under 80 euros. I've looked at the GT730, which I think will be able to run it and the GT9800, which is required to meet GTA V's minimum specs. If my research is correct, I'll be able to just about meet the minimum specs. Please help me find a graphics card that will be able to run the game!

GTA V Minimum Specs:
Minimum specifications:
OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit, Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1, Windows Vista 64 Bit Service Pack 2* (*NVIDIA video card recommended if running Vista OS)
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs) / AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs) @ 2.5GHz
Memory: 4GB
Video Card: NVIDIA 9800 GT 1GB / AMD HD 4870 1GB (DX 10, 10.1, 11)
Sound Card: 100% DirectX 10 compatible
HDD Space: 65GB
DVD Drive

My Specs:
- OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
- Processor: Intel Core i5 750 @ 2.67GHz (Lynnfield 45nm Technologie)
- Memory: 4,00 GB Dual-Canal DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)
- Motherboard: Packard Bell FMP55 (CPU 1) 37 °C
- Graphics: SyncMaster (1920x1080@59Hz) 1024MBGeForce GT 220 (Sapphire/PCPartner)

If you need any more information, please tell me!

(PS. There seems to be no specific forum for PCs, so I'm posting this here. Please tell me if this thread has to be posted elsewhere)

Thanks in advance! :)

Really?! So minimum specs is basically what you need to have to be able to be able to BARELY play the game? Ehhhh.... Might have to invest in a completely new custom pc if it's going to be that expensive. :/

Since GTA games on PC are notorious for FUBAR optimization, you'll need a really strong rig to play this with less stuttering and fps drops. Like, at least an i7-4790k overclocked to the ceiling, 16 GB RAM, and two GTX 980s in SLI to play it on medium settings @ 30 fps with as little lagging as possible.

True, just look at GTA IV's port, it's utter s..t. I really hope that GTA V will be better optimized, and I think it actually will be better. Let's hope Rockstar has learned what happens if they port a game as badly as GTA IV. I have faith in them though.

I would not believe that. I'm sure that GTA V is going to be just as bad or even worse. This is also based on the optimization of the latest AAA games, such as Assassins Creed Unity and Far Cry 4, which has gone to hell.

God there are some terrible AAA games out there. This is why I massively prefer indie games, but I've always been a huge GTA fan and GTA V looks so amazing! Somewhere, deep in my heart, I have trust that Rockstar is able to make GTA V a good port, and god let that be true.

From what I've seen, Dragon Age: Inquisition seems to be the most stable PC game as of late, but in a retail no-patch state. And it still has some optimization issues, though not as bad. And it requires an i7 CPU to even get it to run. Patch 2 made it much worse. Good thing I bought the retail hard copy of that game and did not patch it in Origin. :p Developers just don't seem to care about PC ports anymore. :(

It's like we don't exist to them. They treat the console players like gods and just let some inexperienced group of college students make a pc port for us. All hail pc only games! Made by people that do care about us! \o/

Yyyyeaaaaa I don’t think people will need a $3,000 rig just to get 30 FPS on medium settings. If they intended it to be the most graphically intensive game of all time they wouldn't have made the minimum/recommended specs MILES below what you're claiming, otherwise all these people who have been pre-purchasing the game will be wanting their money back as soon as the game is released because they straight up lied about recommended specs

I think the reason they're spending so much time on GTA V for PC, and pushing the release date back so much, is to prevent this. All of the games you mentioned (assassin’s creed, GTA 4, etc) were poorly optimized because they were released on PC as quickly as possible, but they seem to be spending proper amounts of time to prevent this.

They want it to be played for a very long time and to bring in a lot of money... tricking people into buying it initially and then not having anyone play it after that because their systems can't handle it will bring in less money than it would if people were able to play it longer and spend money on microtransactions, DLC, etc

Then you can expect the PC version of GTA V to be cancelled since it will never be optimized. As for Dragon Age: Inquisition, that game is now much better optimized with the latest patches. EA games always seem to have excellent optimization recently. It shows that a company actually does care for the PC platform.

Okay I see what you are trying to aim for. But there's something you should watch out for... Never ever aim to make a build based on a game's minimum specs... The minimum specs doesn't mean you are making it into playing that game (even if barely) Minimum specs gaming is terrible. It'll probably crash a lot.. It'll be so laggy it won't even feel like you are gaming.. It'll often freeze up and you'll feel like the game is having load up every handful of steps you take. It'll be an incredibly unpleasant experience that will make you wonder why you bothered in the first place. My advice. fx 8320 (as the one they are suggesting is an fx 8350 at 4ghz but the 8320 can hit that quite easily on it's own because of how it automatically turbo clocks up to 4ghz when faced with a big game or program) , r9 280 is far beyond what you need for graphics and it will make up for any minor losses in any other area. 8 gigs of ram. a decent harddrive a cheap western digital caviar blue 1tb is a good choice. and just sort of work your build around these suggestions. they are great performers at a budget price that should handle GTA 5 on very high settings 1080p at 60fps

At minimum specs, don't expect the game to run at all. At recommended specs, it will still run like garbage. Optimal specs for running the game on ultra settings @ 30 fps should be like this:

Optimal specifications:
OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit
Processor: Intel Core i7-5960X @ 3.0GHz (8 CPUs)
Memory: 32GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN X SLI 12 GB
Sound Card: 100% DirectX 10 compatible
HDD Space: 65GB
DVD Drive

Okay that is a bit carried away there 0_o let's wait for the game to come out on pc before we start throwing colossal gaming beasts at it.. Also why would 32 gig of ram be a necessity in this factor?

Agreed. Where are you pulling this information from? Nobody knows how this game is going to run because it has not come out yet. All we can do is go off of the minimum and recommended specs. Are you willing to consider getting a used card (best option for people on a budget)? The gt 730 gddr5 is a decent little card, however, it might have trouble running gta v smoothly because it is slower in some areas than the 9800 gt. Your i5 isnt the latest and greatest obviously, however, it is much faster than the q6600 and is still a very capable cpu. I might consider upgrading to 8gbs of ram in the future if I were you. I will do some ebay surfing and report back soon.
