I just bought an ASUS VN248H monitor with built in speakers. I am having trouble getting sound to come out of them.

The monitor is connected to my AMD Firepro W4100 graphics card. The port from the card is a Mini-DisplayPort 1.2a which has a cable that converts it to DVI. Then I have a cable that goes from DVI to HDMI which is what is attached to the monitor. I am not sure if this configuration is causing the sound problem or what.

It should be noted that the monitor also has an analog sound cord that I have tried to connect to my computer but no sound comes out from that either.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

UPDATE: I have connected some external speakers to the computer while using the ASUS monitor and I am able to get sound to come out of them. I would prefer to have sound come out of the monitor though, so any help in that regard would be great. Thanks.

Sometimes you have to go into the monitor menu to select the audio input and adjust speaker volume (the monitor's speaker volume may simply be turned down/muted).

You're better with a pair of external speakers anyway. Beyond making a noise, the monitor's built-in speakers aren't up to much.

The only sound input available is the analog (green) wire that is similar to a headphone jack.

Perhaps I will just invest in some external speakers and use them instead if I cannot get the monitor to work correctly.

'external speakers' would be no different in connection that the monitor.
analog wire from the PC to the monitor.
Tell the PC to use that.
