So I was looking at the mid 2014 macbook pro 15.6in retina display with the gt 750m GPU and the 512gb flash storage. I want it for school but I want to be able to do some causal gaming on the side. Running windows 8 in boot camp and playing games like skyrim and shogun 2 on medium to high settings. I also prefer osx for school work and overall creative programs. Is this the best fit for me?

A better GPU would help on Skyrim quite a bit for settings and well, 512 gb of storage you will probably want for your school work... But other than that the laptop is fine!

Well, I have tried those games on my Macbook Pro. To be honest playing on bootcamp is totally different than playing on PC. As you said you need OSX at you school, that is definitely good reason to buy a macbook pro, however it is not optimised for gaming performance. I am sure you will experience low graphic, extremely hot fan and terrible noise. But everything is up to you.
