Recently, I got Malwarebytes (free reputable antivirus program.) Each week, I usually scan and find roughly 3-9 individual malware(s) (mainly not false positive PUPs). Is this normal?
It should be noted that I scan daily, and find 3-9 TOTAL malware(s) each week.

First of all, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is not an antivirus. You need to install one.

No, it's not normal to find malware all the time. You either have very bad browsing habits or you're installing free software and agreeing to install all the foistware that comes with it. Uncheck all boxes to programs that have nothing to do with the original program you're trying to install.

Furthermore, the free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is quite sufficient.

If it's free than you shouldn't be using it...It's quite expected to be shitty if it is free because the program designers don't put their all in because they aint getting shit out of it.

And the viruses? i wouldn't worry too much about them unless you start to notice something wrong with your PC. And it is probably the website you go on with all those damn pop-up ads. I'd say just back-up your important stuff and call it a day.

See if you can get Norton or Kasperky for free somehow
