Here is a video. For the most part all laptops have just about the same inside design, it's mroe of a matter of knowing what you are doing rather than how to do it. I'm sure I could do it now that I have a better knowledge of computers even though I didn't do much research (For one of my computers)

Don't do it! Laptops are EXTREMELY tricky and should not be opemed up! You can destroy your entire laptop trying to get to your optical drive bay
Save yourself and just get an external drive and don't risk killing your PC

He's made his choice, even though i'm sure many people including me would 100% agree with you. But I am also sure that he has his reason to do what he is doing instead of taking our advice
on asus n551jk models it is really easy. just remove the screw in the middle of the back of the laptop and pull out the dvd drive.
then look at hddcaddy.com on how to replace the bezel of the drive.
