laptop gpu upgrade help

i wanna upgrade my alienware m5700-r2 and done the reaserch and seen that the radeon mobility 3870 is compatible but i seen theres a master one and a slave one and the laptop only has one gpu slot i need to know if it can work with out the slave gpu thanks

Not sure what you mean by "Work without the slave GPU", but after a quick google search it looks like your laptop's MXM slot requires that you have a master GPU installed, and not a slave one. You also have to make sure when you do this that the graphics card has the same MXM slot type as your m5700-r2.

Honestly the 3870 is a pretty ancient graphics card, and unless you can get the upgrade super cheap I would look into just getting a whole other laptop.

im good the laptop may be old but still to this very day its a nice laptop it does have the same slot and whats the best gpu thats around 50 on ebay that will fit i did research it should fit and it would be able to play wow on high with that card
