Hi, I have the Nvidia 540m GT and while playing any game even simply ones like Garry's mod it throttles from 800Mhz back down to 50Mhz.
GPU-Z clocked it at 65oC when at 800Mhz and 49-51oC when at 50Mhz.
It is clocked at 800Mhz and I receive unplayable fps. Can someone help me find out why this is?
I am using the Sony Vaio VPCF22 M0E.

Thanks,
Fraser

here it doesnt really show how to open the laptop but cant find a vid specific for your laptop , here are the basics unscrew the the screws keep them safe unscrew the heatsink from the mainboard clean the thermal paste off the heatsink and chips . then re-apply thermal paste and screw the heatsink to the mainboard etc , pretty much screw it back together , if your stuck find another video on youtube since there may be a laptop which is simular to yours i know that my brothers and sisters laptops are different (amd cpu intel cpu , one gpu vs two gpus) but the design was sooo simular i just checked what type the type for my bros and sis's laptops are the hp dv6 series , not sure what yours is

laptops get high temps since dust cloggs up the vents so airflow is shit , what you need to do is reapply thermal compound (this involves opening the entire laptop . or vaccum the vents

im skilled and have opened laptops alot but they can be a challenge to open for the first time so do your reasearch , and dont forget you need thermal paste otherwise you have a risk of overheating your laptop
