Multiple Antivirus good idea??

Hello

My question is if its a good idea to have 2 antivirus programs.
Last month I downloaded a lot of stuff ( cracked game patches, game torrents, etc. Yes I'm a gamer) and my Avira didn't detect anything (maybe I've got a good eye on what might look like a virus or not) so I thought a 2nd antivirus would be a consideration.
If its a good idea to do then what antivirus won't cancel out Avira?
I already use Advanced SystemCare 7 for Malware and Registry Fragments and such.
So if anyone has an answer for this please post it here

Thanks.

He's right. Avast AND Avira got hacked. Avast got hacked 8 months after Avira and AVG got hacked.

I guess it's time to start waiting until those 100% rebates on Kaspersky show up again. For now, Bitdefender seems to be the safest.

It's neither good or bad if its not affecting your computer's performance. I would personally use one good anti virus along with malwarebytes anti malware rather than 2 anti virus programs.

Note: At tomshardware we don't support piracy or help those who do. Please purchase apps and other content through legal means.

If you're in doubt, drop Avira in favor of Avast free or Kaspersky. (only use Kaspersky if you're willing to pay) And download the free version of Malwarebytes for extra scanning. Remember to disable any real-time protection in Malwarebytes, because Avast or Kaspersky will already be taking care of that.

Was it avira or avast that was hacked?

Yes I know but it was because my game disk couldn't be read anymore so I had to find a torrent for it. And a patch for the game wouldn't work unless it was cracked. All the rest of my games are on Steam so I pay for the rest of my games :)

Wait, what? What's this "did avast get hacked" business?

Uninstall any antivirus on your system (Avira, Advanced SystemCare 7, etc.) and install Avast. After you've installed Avast, download the free Malwarebytes installer and install it. Be sure to disable any real-time protection in Malwarebytes.

And I forgot to mention this in the previous post, but cracking games is both illegal and unacceptable. Tom's Hardware is not supportive of cracking at all.
