I am currently in a predicament whether to go for the ipod touch 5th gen 32gb model. I already am using an android phone and been an android user for a long time so changing to iphone isnt an option. However i listen to a lot of music and hence it ends up draining the phone battery and also want to keep my phone storage clear. I need a separate device for music and the only option seems to be an ipod touch. however i do have a couple of concerns:
1. Its hardware is a couple of years old and i have heard ipod users complain about ios8 not running smoothly on it . I am not looking for gaming and stuff i just need a mp3 player which delivers good sound quality and should run smoothly.
2.Is there an ipod 6th gen coming anytime soon and should i wait for it. i am perfectly happy with the 4 inch screen size of the ipod . it keeps it portable and a bigger screen would only be cumbersome to use
3.Another idea that i have is how about buying a backup android phone in the same budget and using it as a mp3 player. Would it provide the same sound quality as an ipod if i use some good headphones

So is it still viable to buy an apple ipod touch 5th generation in today's market, keeping in mind my priority for music.
hope someone can point me in the right direction
anyways happy new years to everyone

Every iphone will have trouble running the software designed for the newer models, regardless of the crap apple tells you.
Even the iphone 4 is "snappy" if its running an OS designed for the iphone 4.

The i5 will run like crap with IOS 8 on it, but it will run just fine on an OS designed for it (the older OS)

That being said, what do you need a $200 phone for if you're just going to use it for music?
There are much cheaper sound playing devices that would offer much more space for less than half of the cost of an iphone 5.
