I was wondering if my old laptop could play bluray? Here are the specs:

•Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 dual core processor (2.1 GHz)
•3GB DDR3 memory
•8X Super Multi DVD±RW Drive
•16.0" WXGA+ glossy display (1366 x 768 resolution)
•250GB hard drive
•Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
•Full 104 button keyboard
•3 high-speed USB 2.0 ports
•Built-in 802.11 b/g/n wireless
•Webcam & mic
•eSATA port
•Intel High Definition audio
•Built-in 10/100Base-T Ethernet LAN

I know the bare minimum to play bluray is a core 2 duo but my laptop has integrated graphics so I would like to know before I buy a drive. Also, when I play 1080p files and I skip ahead, the video lags.

Solution
It's really up to you. You could always give it a try and return it if you dont like it.

In my opinion, you wont get the most out of a Blu Ray on a 1366 by 768 screen.

For it to support Blu Ray, the drive would need to be made specifically for the laptop, unless its connected through USB. One thing to note is that Blu Ray plays back at 1920 by 1080 resolution and high bitrate audio, so if you do play a Blu Ray disc, it will take up the majority of the resources.

Yes, that is my model number but will it be using like 100% cpu? I know a core 2 duo is the bare minimum without a graphics card.

It will work, but your computer will probably be at maximum load during. Just to let you know, Blu ray plays in 1080p which your screen isnt capable of showing without shrinking it anyway, so a blu ray drive wont help quality by much unless you have the screen to display it on.

So, in your honest opinion, is it worth it?

Thanks, this a second computer that I just wanted to hang on to because it came with windows 7. I'll just stick with a dvd burner for this machine.
