Hi, I'm in need of my laptop's microphone to pick up sound for Skype, etc. However I can't I have looked on my settings and made sure that nothing is disabled or muted and still no sound will go into my laptop, I want to know how I can get mty PC to do that without having to go out and buy special equipment and accesories, I just want it to let sound in normally.

Its probably muted which s the default state for a mic.
Rt click on the speaker icon down by the time and then select open volume control. The mute checkbox is at the bottom of the mic slider. You will also need to adjust the slider to an acceptible level so that you can be heard but not distorted.
What ever program you are using may have separate control built into it so it might be wise to check there also.
