do not expect huge performance numbers with the Pentium G3258 processor (20th anniversary), really this is a low level / budget SKU.
i3 i would refrain from commenting as like millions bench mark exists on how they perform.

Generally Speaking That is lot dependent on GPU you use.
In Short:
For gaming i5 is ok with an high end GPU( lot of games still don't use multi core , etc )
But for Vid Editing i.e Rendering it is high cpu oriented task in which a processor like i7 would be very helpful and will be fully utilized.

if getting the pentium means you get a better gpu then it might be better to get the pentium, what are you looking at?

the pentium will be slightly faster on poorly threaded games the i3 will be faster on well threaded games, we are tending towards being well threaded, but an i5 at the same clock speed as the i3 would be faster still because they are real cores and not HT cores.

Ya i would get the i3 if you can, the g3258 will work if you overclock it a bunch but the i3 gives better performance in most games.

A 4000 series i3 should be able to get you close to 60fps in just about any game.

so a dual core good for game rec too? cus game rec uses the power of the cpu right?
