Yes its good for just watching Movies and TV shows, with this one you will not get those fancy features that smart TVS do, In all honesty I would buy this TV because you give up those "smart tv" features that no one really uses for actual nice quality screening of movies and shows.

I just purchased a new TV - but rather than suggest a specific TV to you, I'm going to suggest that YOU do a bit of research and evaluate features of each model compared to what it is you want. Obviously someone who wants a TV for gaming is probably going to have different needs than someone who just wants to watch TV (e.g. opinions are all subjective.)Perhaps after you've narrowed down to certain models THEN asking about others experiences would provide more info to add to your evaluation. You've already decided on size (50" +) and commented that your last TV (Insignia) wasn't so great for gaming. I'd think if gaming is important to you, then you'd want a higher refresh rate (don't be misled by specs that use descriptive words (like VIZIO's 'effective 240 Hz effective refresh rate - I think that means 120 Hz refresh rate.) - and you probably want min. of 120. Resolution is another factor. Sound yet another - are you using just TV sound/speakers or adding sound bar or other sound source? Inputs and outputs available are important but you're the only person that knows what you need, based on what you want to add (now or in the future).
There seem to be fewer choices these days, and seems they're all, or almost all, made in China. Manufacturers aren't including the information in specs that they did even 5 years ago....which makes it more difficult to compare. Would be interested in what model you decide on - and more importantly why you chose it and how it's working out for you!
