To start with, my laptop is MSI Ge60-0ND (2012) version. My 2 year warranty expired recently :??:

I use my external monitor (27 inch 1080p) all the time when at home. Recently I disconnected my laptop from the external monitor and took it to work place and I see no display (not even the bios boot) on the native laptop display after I turned it on there, but I hear the fan spinning and everything else working fine except no display. I tried some things but none of them worked except that when I disconnected the power, took out the battery and put it back and now I get the display back. But the problem is If I restart/hibernate/sleep/shutdown the display blacks out again, I have to reset the power battery thing again. And it works always with the external display and have no problem connecting to it.

Guys please help me get me a solution, cause I need my laptop for some important meetings and demos with its native display.

Is there absolutely no display? Do you at least see the MSI POST logo when you turn it on or absolutely nothing? One thing you can try is connecting it to an external display (maybe at your home) and then if that works, you can hit Windows key > p to open up the display menu and switch to the primary display (assumingly the laptop screen).

Thanks for the reply turkey3_scratch,

Yeah I don't see anything not even the MSI post logo, it is completely black (no power at all). I tried using my external display and did the windows+P settings to use only laptop display, extend displays, duplicate displays nothing worked.

I tried uninstall and reinstall both the display drivers (intel and Nvidia) with no luck.

But the laptop works with the external monitor without any problem and no performance drop.

Can you boot into safe mode?

[strike]Oh May be because, I am not using my external monitor now. I am at work place and I did that "battery reset" to get my display back to do the troubleshooting you want. Will do this again after going home and post it back.[/strike]

Actually I can see the monitors drop-down when booted in regular mode (not in safe mode) and it says "Generic PnP Monitor" like you said.

But thanks a lot for your time once again.
