Best Free Ad Blocking Software?

Hello! I have seen previous posts in the past, but nothing in the past month or two, regarding the most recommended ad blocking programs. I understand a lot of viruses etc. could get transferred through pop ups even on normally secure sights. Adblock seems to be highly reviewed but I saw it doesn't cover IE, although I may just plan to use chrome. Anyone have any recommendations? Thank you!

No software necessary, free, and works in all browsers / software. I use this in Linux, Windows, and Android. So even my phones and tablets are ad free.

Agreed with Adblock Pro. There are alternatives for IE, but all in all, Chrome is the best browser for security. There's a pretty recent comparison available at https

Adblock Plus is excellent and comes in a version for Internet Explorer as well:

I'm using uBlock at the moment, but I think this one is only available for Chrome. You can just add it as extension by finding it in Chrome Web Store. If you can't find it just type uBlock in the search bar of the store.
