Hello there. I'm just so mad about my laptop - Acer V3-571G. It's 1 year and few months old and I always had problems with it. Specs are really good for that price, that's why I bought it. Playing games it can get really hot, even playing World of Warcraft : Wrath of the Lich King (not that heavy game) even playing older games CPU temperature is high (up to 95 celsius). Playing heavier games it can get a bit hotter. Also I have huge FPS drops when processor is running louder. Doing nothing or surfing on web CPU temp is from 60 to 70 degrees. (I think that's way too high for doing nothing stressful). I think it's not CPU's fault, because I have tried to clean vents with air and I have done it couple of times but it keeps overheating. I have disabled Intel Turbo Boost Technology and maximum processor frequency is 2.4 GHz, instead of 3.2 GHz. All drivers are up to date. I'm thinking to re-install operating system to Windows 8, maybe it would resolve this problem or to downgrade BIOS version from InsydeH2O v2.11 to v1.13, but I'm not sure, since It's dangerous and can lead to hardware damage. Please, help me to find solution for this. Thank you.

The GPU will also be generating heat too, Laptops are generally not built for gaming and that one certainly isn't if it is running on integrated GPU.

Vsync on, so that you can cap the frame rate, cap the cpu speed (done) cap the GPU speed, lower detals.

The FPS drops are due to throttling.

A laptop cooler might help, but i think they only give 2-3C improvement.

I think cooler won't resolve overheating. I have only heard bad things about them, so it's not worth to waste money. I have 2 graphic cards - Intel HD Graphics 4000 (integrated) I use it rarely and Nvidia GeForce GT 730M. (using mostly GeForce when playing games)

Nevermind. I resolved myself problem. Updated BIOS - didn't help. Nvidia PhysX was causing CPU and GPU overheating.. Laptop is running cool while idle - 40 to 57 degress celsius, depends what you're doing. Thanks anyway!

Hi I have the same laptop as yours. May I know what is your solution? With the specs that comes with this laptop, gaming should be fine. So I guess overheating can be somehow fixed or lowered.

I also own this laptop, and dealt with overheating and throttling for 2 years. I eventually opened up my laptop and replaced the stock thermal paste with some arctic silver, and also cleaned out the small amount of dust that had collected inside the fan. I haven't had throttling or overheating issues since!
