Are these laptops good for HD video editing and dual monitors?

The Asus one has 1x HDMI, 1x MiniDisplay meaing you'd have to connect to one monitor using a HDMI cable and a second using Minidisplay. the touchsmart only has one HDMI port so you'd have to settle with using laptop screen and ONE external monitor.

The asus, is more powerful with 16gb ram and a slightly faster processor, it isn't touchscreen which is the only real advantage the ENVY has. Even in terms of weight the asus laptop weighs less.

I see. I can get the HP for $680 refurbished. I can always add my own memory. I think that's the better deal right?

If you can get a refurbed HP model for $680 and replace / add ram I believe it supports up to 16gb of ram then that is totally worth it. You don't get all the packaging and make sure you get a good warranty or guarantee if possible, also remember that you can only hook one monitor externally from the HDMI port.

Yeah that's the only bad part. So the Asus is capable of dual monitors. (Can I use the laptop screen as a 3rd?)
