So im looking to buy a projector (Epson EH-TW5100 Full HD 1080p 3D Home Cinema Projector) and want to set it up to my gaming pc. The only thing im worried about is the connections. The projector has 2x hdmi so I would like to use them but every tv I have owned and used hdmi-pc I needed to change the source input name to pc or the picture would be low quality. So im not sure if a projector is the same. Does anyone have any experience with this set up. Thanks in advance

I am gaming CS:GO with a BenQ W1070 at 1080p and 60hz.

What you need to look at is:
-Input lag (lower the better)
-Refresh rate (60hz is ok, higher is better)
-Resolution (720p is ok, 1080p / 1920x1080 is great, higher would be awesome)

Kind regards,

Danny, my friend your questions is simple but the way you present took a lot of efforts to understand the meaning. Never mind finally I understood the question.

I don't have much experience about TV inputs but for projector there is no difference between HDMI for PC or HDMI for TV . Once you connect the projector to your gaming PC, select the HDMI on which you have connected the gaming PC, it will start working and give the output on projector screen as your input source quality.

You just have to connect projector to gaming pc and select the hdmi on which your gaming pc is connected [ some projector automatically detects and selects the source ] and you are ready to go......

If need further help, hit me back here. Cheers....

Cheers mark, it works fine so thats 1 worry down ha. My next issues is my projector is 120hz but it only has 2 hdmi ports. And hdmi has enough bandwidth to handle 60hz so why is the projector capable of 120hz. My pc also sees the projector as 120hz but if I enable vsync in games I get 60fps not 120fps. My gpu is more than capable of 120 fps. Loving my 150" screen tho haha

Hi Danny.

I've been searching for a projector that enables > 60 fps myself and came to the conclusion that entry level projectors won't support that configuration since they are equipped with an HDMI 1.4a interface which can't cope with an input signal greater than 60Hz (non 3D signals). On the other hand they will have vertical scan rate that range up to 120Hz which they use in 3D scenarios e.g. 1080p24

So what you'll need is a projector with HDMI 1.4b or 2.0 (whose bandwidth can cope with signals carrying more frame info). As far as I could learn only 4K (really expensive) projectors are equipped with HDM 2.0 to push 2160p60 and thus probably enabling a > 60fps experience.

A good monitor will probably enable you a nice experience as well: Predator X34. I would OC'it to 90Hz (90 is already very noticeable improvement over 60Hz; The monitor can do 100Hz) and allow G-SYNC to do its magic. Of course you will need no less than a GTX 980 to have a nice experience with a 1440p resolution...
