My Samsung laptop installed some updates on Windows 7, and when I turned it on it wouldn't log in. It would only let me shut down or restart. I managed to access Samsung recovery where I ended up system restoring to the first day I got the laptop and it has wiped all my files and settings and everything. And it won't undo the system restore when I try doing that.

Solution
A 'system restore' is a non-reversable action. It formatted your system and re-wrote your drive. Any files and programs that you had on the system need to be copied or installed back onto your system to get them back. Anything that was on the HDD is gone.
