Hello guys,

I'm looking for a new laptop for my father. It'll be used mostly for drawing CAD, word/excel etc, and Internet.

The budget starts at 400€, could stretch it to 500€ if necessary.

Interested in a laptop that sports an Intel CPU, i3/i5/i7. Which one is more suitable?

Also, would an integrated gpu like the Intel HD series be up to the task, or is a dedicated nvidia (preferably) needed?

6gb of ram so it can do tasks easily. Are 4gb of ram enough?

Extra HDD slot for future SSD maybe?

I've heard that Lenovo, Dell, Asus and Toshiba have some decent laptops.

What about these?

- Lenovo G5070 (i3-4010U/4GB/1TB/Intel HD) - 385€

- Asus F555LA-XX275H (i3-4030U/4GB/500GB/Intel HD 4400) - 410€

- Dell Inspiron 3542 (i3-4030U/4GB/500GB/Intel HD 4400) - 417€

- Dell Inspiron 3542 (i3-4030U/4GB/500GB/GeForce 820M) - 438€

- Asus F552LDV-SX1001H (i3-4010U/4GB/1TB/GeForce 820M) - 439€

- Toshiba Satellite L50-B-11F (i3-4005U/6GB/750GB/R5 M230) - 449€

- Dell Inspiron 15 3542 (i5-4210U/4GB/500GB/Intel HD 4000) - 450€

- Dell Inspiron 3442 (i5-4210U/4GB/1TB/Intel HD 4400) - 480€

- Dell Inspiron 15 3542 (i5-4210U/4GB/500GB/GT 820M) - 515€

- Dell Inspiron 3542 (i7-4510U/4GB/500GB/GT 840M) - 530€

- Dell Inspiron 15 3542 (i5-4210U/8GB/1TB/GT 820M) - 565€

What do you think about the laptops I posted above? What would you recommend?

I'm open to any other solution.

Thanks for your time! :)

Dell Inspiron 15 3542 (i5-4210U/8GB/1TB/GT 820M)

you should really stretch for this one ^ . strong cpu, 8gb of ram(should really be prefered since drawing CAD is in the plan) and a dedicated gpu for the 3d acceleration and to avoid any physical memory overtax.!

at such price range you will hardly find any better overall performer, however you are limited to 15.6'' size laptops which means only one hdd/ssd slot.! also keep in mind that the "U'' marked intel family cpu stands for energy efficience (low tdp) so even the i7 will still be dual core with the main difference being on the frequency range.! so an i5 will do just fine! as far as the laptop vendors you have mentioned are all fine. i would only avoid the...
