I am debating which of these two GPUs to get. My mind is set on the asus g551-jm. However benchmarks actually show the 2gb version performing better than the 4gb version and I am talking for both Maxwell, not the 4gb Kepler. For example in a review I read that the 2gb version on a acer v15 nitro scored 28377 on 3DM Cloud (G), whereas the 4gb version on the said asus g551jm scored only 20669. The other tests (3DM Fire (G) 3DMark 11 (G) U. Heaven) were more or less the same. Comparing the fps of high end games was also the same (for example both scored 28 fps on high settings on Metro: Last light), however on lighter games like fifa 2014, the asus scored 103 fps on high and the acer (with the 2gb gpu) had over 300 hundred. I can't explain these differences and I have no idea why the 2gb is, granted slighly, but better than the 4gb version.

So which one should I get in the long run?

P.S I know there is a similar thread, but my question is a bit more specific and I think it could lead to some useful information.

Both PCs have almost identical specs: Acer v15 nitro (Intel Core i7-4710HQ, 8gb ddr 3 ram 1600mhz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M (2GB GDDR5, GM107)) vs Asus g551jm (Intel Core i7-4710HQ, 12GB ddr 3 ram 1600mhz, NVIDA GeFroce GTX 860M (4GB GDDR5, GM107))

I am perplexed as well and if anything I expect the 4gb version to perform better and it's not really a question of money for me, but rather which is the better choice. There is a asus with the same 2gb gpu, so I am really torn right now!

after checking things the only answer is that the asus comes with a i5 or i7 maybe the benchmarks where done with the I5 where the acer is all i7
normaly more ram does not slow down the benchmark, but it doesn'ty speed them either except if you use all the ram like at 4k resolution or multi screen.

usauly i trust more asus then acer but in this case i'm perplexed.
