Graphic card to laptop hdmi

My laptop is weak so I upgraded my ram and processor and now I want a gpu upgrade.Also I have a pc graphic card.So I was thinking that can I connect the graphic card hdmi slot to laptop hdmi slot and connect graphic card to external power supply.Understand a hdmi to hdmi connection.

You need an external GPU adapter for that to work, hooking it up by HDMI wont work
