Was wondering if anyone had the acer aspire v15 or v17 nitro laptop. I'm considering it but I want to know from someone who is currently using it how it is and if there are any negatives.

Solution
I got mine two days ago - 17" model with the quad-core i7 processor and, unfortunately, the 1TB conventional slow hard drive.
First impressions are mixed.

pros

  • - sturdy overall design for something so wide and thin
    - good assembly quality - everything fits together nicely
    - great screen, not very accurate colors out of the box but still great
    - good keyboard with backlighting
    - nice speakers for a laptop (although i have not listened to anything too demanding yet)
    - fast, very fast (then again every new computer is that in the beginning)

cons

  • - case material not as resistant to fingerprints as i'd like
    - gets very hot in the upper central area, and i mean so hot it's almost painful to touch
    - noisy fans...

    - noisy fans, the thing sounds like a small jet when under heavy load
    - bloatware - lots of Acer "utilities" preinstalled
    - numlock off by default when booting up
    - battery life somewhere between 3 and 4 hours with wifi on and screen brightness almost up to max (cmon, it's a big laptop, i'd happily exchange 5 millimeters in height for an hour more of surfing time)
    - no maintenance cover, have to take it to official service partner for RAM installation
    - battery not removable

i bought the V15 nitro 1 month ago.

i am unable to play any game or watch movie.

my laptop gets very hot that it drops the cpu GHZ back to 0.75 until it cools down.
this is my second laptop by warranty, unfortunately, this second 1 has same problem.

i want to bring it back and take my money, this laptop was engineered very badly, ACER WAKE UP PLEASE, AND TAKE YOUR USELESS LAPTOP BACK PLEASE.
