Need to replace old sony Handycam asap. Is the pj540 really worth the extra $? Mainly using for school concerts, plays, and vacation. Need good low light and sound quality. Any advice?

Solution
In my opinion the answer is no, the Sony PJ540 is not worth the extra money. Unless you are really going to use the projector feature I would go with the Canon. Sony's don't have a good reputation for low-light performance. Between the two the Canon has a slightly larger sensor which will help with low-light performance.

Thank you. I appreciate your advice. I only hesitated because I have an old F17 sony camera with nightshot and loved it. But I will go with Canon for my video. My brother has a Canon and is happy with it. I just wanted some advice backed by experience. Thank you for your reply.
