I have a budget of $700 and I have chosen this laptop and I was wondering if it was a good and reliable laptop that could handle a little bit of gaming on games like Far Cry 1,2,3, GMod, and others. If this isn't a good computer for this, what should I pick?
My preferences are:
Laptop
i7 CPU
6GB+ RAM
250 GB+ RAM
Windows 7
VGA port
Optic Drive

from the home page click on the computers & tablets department and chose all laptops. on the left of the screen are a bunch of categories you can filter like price, brand, screen type/size and such. start checking boxes for what you want. i checked i7 for cpu type, 8gb for ram, dedicated for gpu type and a few others that matched what you asked for.

playing with these filters is a great way to narrow things down some. you can adjust one criteria to see what it does to the price such as change i7 to i5 or dedicated gpu to integrated.

you can do this type of filtering with most everything on newegg. i use it even if i may not buy there just to help figure out a model i may want. for instance if you find a certain hp laptop fits what...

went to newegg and sorted laptops with your requests and this is what shows up. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100006740%20600003982%20600004804%20600029658%20600514776&IsNodeId=1&name=Windows%207&Order=PRICE&Pagesize=30

with win 8 prices started at $700 for an asus. kind of says your requirements don't match your budget. you can keep an eye on sales and probably get what you want this holiday season, but you're going to have to stay on top of all the ads out there.

I've updated my post so that it no longer says that a dedicated GPU is a prefernce. How did you do what you did on NewEgg?

Just in case you are not aware, not all mobile Intel Core i7 CPUs are quad core CPUs. Within your price range you will only be able to get a dual core i7 CPU like the i7-4510u. All "U" and "M" model core i7 CPUs are dual core CPUs. The "MQ", "HQ" and "MX" models are quad core CPUs and they generally are in laptops that costs at least $900.

Core i7 "U" CPUs are very similar to Core i5 "U" CPUs; the difference is a bit higher clock speeds and slightly more cache. If you want to play games then drop down to a Core i5 "U" CPU (like the i5-4210u) so that you can possibly fit a dedicated graphics chip into your budget.

newest sales on newegg are pretty good. if you can afford a little extra and get $800 budget, there are a couple that fit exactly what your looking for and they are a couple hundred off right now.

main sale page for the laptops
http://www.newegg.com/PCs-Laptops/EventSaleStore/ID-170?Category=363%2C223

couple of the that caught my eye are: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834232132&ignorebbr=1 and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834231974&ignorebbr=1

these are closer to $800 but have the full i7, dedicated graphics and all the bells and whistles
