I have tried:
- updating windows
- uninstalling the driver
- downloaded the driver from acer and reinstalled.

sound comes out of headphone jack or when connected to HDMI.

Please help! its a pretty new computer and I would really like for it not to be broken.

I have searched the forums for a solution but have not had any luck

Thanks!!

Its not broken. The sound profiles got changed when you plugged in new devices. It happens, and will take some time to get changed back to what you want. "Computers only do, what you tell them to do."

Click on your sound icon in the bottom right. Click Mixer. This should bring up "device" and "applications." Under Device click the drop down menu and you should see a bunch of options. Click the one you want. If you dont know what each option is, you will need to select each one and test each connection.

This should fix your issue, if not, I have some other theories we can test!

the only option under "mixer" that i have is "speaker" which belongs to the laptop i'm assuming. there is no drop down menu.

the computer is not plugged into the tv anymore

the sound works from the headphones..

I hope this helps and thank you so much for taking the time to help me out!

Are headphones plugged in when you are using HDMI? Are they plugged in when youre trying to listen to music?

Lets try this:
Right click the sound icon
open up play back devices
Set your speakers to default by Right clicking the item in the list you want to make default. In your case, Speakers. Click Set as Default Device.

Now do we have sound?

What about uninstalling your audio driver and reinstalling it using the manufactures website? Im starting to run out of ideas. But if you uninstall the driver, and reinstall it that might work! Whats the model number and Ill find the driver for you. I need the complete model number of your laptop
