I am down to a choice between GTX 860m 4GB - with i5 (lenovo Y70-70) or GTX 860m 2GB with i7 (Asus G751) - both systems have 8GB RAM and 1960 x 1080 screens. Which would be better for games such as Witcher 3, Project Cars, F1 2015? What is more important more Vram (2GB vs 4GB) or better processor (quad vs duo)? Thank you.

Hi,

I would have been curious as well, but I went for it already. However, my Y70 has i7.
I have had the Asus ROG before, as well as the Alienware 17 (2nd). Both had in the end issues so I sold them. Now I went for Lenovo since it is cheaper (I got it from Sweden with a very good price <1000Eur - i7 4700MQ / 860M 4GB / 16GB RAM / 1TB).
They have very different design and Asus in my opinion has the best cooling in a laptop. But the trackpad is sh*t.
Alienware was more expensive, but not very much different than Asus (it had the 3D screen as extra). We'll see...

Since no one wants to answer this (I assume because they don't want to second guess what the requirements for unreleased games will be) I will simplify the question:

In general, for gaming, would it be better to have a quad core processor with a GTX 650m 2 GB or a dual core with a GTX 650m 4GB. In other words what would give me a bigger performance boost - an extra two cores or and extra 2 GB of VRAM?

Thank you.

Please don't suggest that I buy a desktop as if that were an option I would.

edit: so its been two days now and NOBODY has even given an educated guess to my question. I guess it was even tougher than I thought. My own opinion is that I would be better off with the i7 and 2gb vram - but that is just my intuition.
