ONE: dont EVER EVER buy alienware. They are overpriced and underpowered. Its like buying Beats. the money you pay is for the brand and the lighting effects on the computer. I bought a ASUS G750jw BBI7NO5 for 1300$ around the same price as the Alienware from Wallmart and i got better cpu which is a Intel i74700hq AND a 17.3 inch screen. My computer specs are I7 4700hq 2.4GHz 8gbs Ram Nvidia GeForce gtx 765m 1tb hdd. I love it. It runs smooth and even when playing DayZ Standalone it runs at very mild temps. Its very consumer friendly its capable of holding 32gbs Ram AND has a extra hdd or ssd slot in case you wanna upgrade. Now for the same price you can get the newer version of my computer its similar but has a I think a different Cpu and definitely has a different gpu. If you want to see for yourself go check out the ASUS website or got to a bestbuy store. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND buying this ASUS computer its amazing. Like im not paid at all to say this im telling you based off of my experiences. If you have any questions about it you can private message me or reply on here.

I agree. I bought a very expensive Alienware. It isn't worth the price. It was one of the stupids mistake I every made.
I'd go with ASUS. They are very good laptops, very well made.

A lot of people would agree with you there. Asus is a great company. Their products are unrivaled by the competitors. I'm glad i showed you another option. I hope you choose the Asus. I do not know the name of the newer version of my computer but you can go to best buy and find out.

ok thanks very much, to finish i just wanna do a quick followup on your answer

<<Yes there will be an SSD slot, but you should create a system restore disk before you install it. I don't know if a standard Windows disk will work to install without buying a new PK>>

i understand it a bit but not entirely. without (necessarily) telling me how to do it exactly, could you simply tell me if it will be easy to transfer the OS from the HDD to the SSD i will bought and add ?

Then replace the hard drive with the SSD, and boot from the Windows 8.1 install USB you just created.

I bought an Alienware and love it but I wouldn't buy that one because it's to old. My Alienware is the first laptop I've purchased that gets graphics cards drivers from Nvidia rather then the OEM plus I get the notices from Nvidia everytime there is an update. It also has know that my laptop is plugged in all the time and doesn't a simulation of the laptop being unplugged to help life of the battery. I have a 256 SSD boot drive with 1 tb data drive, SLI graphics GTX 860 with 16 gb of ram.

True alienware may be good but very over priced. Like i said you pay alot of money for the flashing lights and the big name. Why waste that much money when you can get PROBLEY more perfomance out of a cheaper or the same performance for cheaper

Well you contradicted yourself when you said Alienware may be good but why spend when you can get better performance from cheaper. Well first of all the higher price is for better performance hardware. The 18 comes with SLI graphics (2 graphics cards) that means twice the price. If you want a single card you have to select the 17. I went out and priced the top of the line Alienware and the MSI and configured them equally ( but where AW offered 1 TB SSD MSI only offered 512 GB SSD. The price was 6913 for MSI and 7140 for AW with SLI graphics 880's compared to one 980 so basically you get what you pay for. Also MSI has the lights also. You pay more for ALienware because the components are high end components by default.

You can get lower end component on the AW 17 or even lower on the 13 but those lower are better then most companies higher end machines.
