This is for my younger sister for a Christmas present, I won't know the exact answers to a lot of these questions but I'll try my best. I can try to work answers out of her without her realizing.
- Country of purchase: USA
- Budget range: Around $500
- Purpose (netbook, ultraportable, mainstream, gaming, desktop replacement, etc.): General purpose laptop for school work as well as some gaming on the side
- Screen size preference: No preference
- OS preference (Windows/ Mac/ Linux): Windows
- Gaming requirements (example games and desired fps/settings): She plays some older less demanding games like Mount and Blade, FTL, and some others. I know she wants newer games but she doesn't currently have a computer. 60fps preferably with higher settings, but low to med settings above 30 is the minnimum requirement.
- Performance requirements (video, CAD, etc.): Gaming, streaming, word processing, etc
- Method of computer support (office supplier, college bookstore, self support): Self
- Brand preferences and reasons (already owned accessories, familiarity, business
compatibility): I've owned a Lenovo laptop for years and it has been solid. No preference for this one though.
- Any particular style that you like (examples are great): No
- Which of the following qualities would you prefer? (Choose one, the other, or balanced)
- Long battery life -vs- Low weight: Balanced
- Build quality -vs- Low price: Balanced
- Low noise/heat -vs- High performance: Balanced
Would you pay a premium for something that has:
- High resolution screen: Maybe
- A great keyboard: Maybe
- A great touchpad/mouse buttons: Maybe
- Great audio: Maybe
List any features that are criticale.g. Optical drive, USB 3.0, SD card slot, ethernet port, HDMI port, bluetooth, VGA port, removable battery, glossy screen, matte screen, etc.)
An optical drive is the only extra feature.
I'm currently looking at the $500 dollar option here: http/shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/z-series/z40/ or the $580
I also considered http/shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/y-series/y40/
Thanks in advance!
