I just bought the Sony DAVTZ140 DVD Home Theater System, this is an entry level model you can check it out here.

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DAVTZ140-Theater-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B007K5H4Z2/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

I have it connected from the Home Theater (HDMI) to TV (HDMI via ARC). DVD works fine for both audio and video, however when I switch to online apps on the TV such as Youtube I get picture but no sound. Home Theater is set to TV but there is no sound. As a side note the Home Theater system does not have an optical sound option. I can connect my cable box to the Home Theater via RCA and it works fine both audio and video, but when I switch to Youtube or other apps I get the video but still hear the audio from the cable.

My TV is SONY KBL55W800B

Pease help.

Solution
You won't have any issues because the HDMI connection is an input and the optical output is always active from an internal source. You will need a DAC to convert to analog audio. Check to see is the TV will output pcm or 5.1. Many DACs will only accept pcm.

Ahh thats interesting. Receiver also needs to be ARC which it is not. Only sound out I see from the TV is optical, Might have to buy an optical to RCA converter to plug into home theater?

Not sure how I would know that. I have attached picture of the recommended setup. Like I said, the only audio out i see from the TV is the optical, so thinking of buying a converter to connect TV optical out to Home Theater in via RCA. Would this work?

Here is the complete manual - refer to page 15 for Basic Home Theater Setup
