Alright so I've been going crazy for this and not sure which to get, as a civil engineer student I've asked and they've told me I'm not going to be doing many 3d designs in my university and if I do I have special computers available. They said I will be doing 2d designs for example in autocad. What should I got for? There is a Sager laptop with Nvidia gefore gtx 850m and 860m which are for $1000. There is the Lenovo y40 for around less than $700 with an r9 275m. Then there is the Dell precision but that seems to be 3d intensive and I'm not sure I will ever need that much power from a graphics card in my line of studies. What do you guys recommend for a laptop? Not sure which can help the best. Also there is no chance for a desktop as I will be working on campus mainly, thanks for any advice!

Don't bump. It doesn't help.
Secondly, you won't have any problems with CAD if you have a graphics card at all. You don't need to worry about this problem. Any laptop with a discrete video card should suffice.
