I have a few laptops I've chosen , and wanted to know which one has a 2nd slot for a SSD to be put in? So I want to have a SSD and HDD on at the same time.

HP - ENVY TouchSmart 15.6" (m6-n015dx)
HP - ENVY x360 2-in-1 15.6" (15-u010dx)
HP - Pavilion 15.6" Laptop (15-p100dx)
HP - Pavilion x360 2-in-1 13.3" (13-a012dx)

Thanks in advance!! :)

If you put an SSD in a laptop you would do far better to replace the system drive with the SSD - this is a standard easy-to-achieve laptop upgrade, that will give you the maximum benefit from the SSD. You can then use the HD either as a secondary internal storage drive if there is room in the laptop, or fit it in an external caddy and have it connected by USB.

Basically, the only way to do this on most laptops is to replace the optical drive. From what it looks like, the 15-p100dx is the only one with an optical drive. This would be the only one which you can have two hard drives inside the laptop but you would have to buy a special 3rd party tray that has to be an exact fit to replace the optical drive. I did this on my laptop and it works great, I am using a SSD as the main drive and the original HDD in the optical drive tray.

If there is only room for one internal drive, then you might want to look at hybrids like this one from Seagate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178340 which will give you similar results as an SSD but with more space although having a real SSD is the faster option.

Yes, this is what I'm trying to achieve. I want to put my OS and main programs in the SSD, and then videos, movies, etc on the HDD as a second storage.

Ok cool - well then the thing to make absolutely sure of in your choice of laptop is that it has Sata III not Sata II, so that you get the full benefit of the SSD. Then, as cub_fanatic said, you can fit the HD in the optical bay with an adapter (which will likely be quite cheap), or you can connect it externally as I was mentioning.

The process of fitting the SSD is straightforward - you install cloning software on the laptop, connect the SSD in an external drive caddy (making sure there is enough space on it to clone the entire contents of the HD), run the cloning software so the SSD is now a clone of the HD< turn it all off, and replace the HD in the laptop with the SSD.

Then once you're happy the laptop is now running fine with the SSD (no reason it shouldn't be), you can wipe the HD and fit it as your storage drive

I am aware on how to install them, but I just want to make sure which laptop can handle the SSD and HDD? Preferably, I'd like to have two bays to install them both internally. I'm just not sure which laptop of the 4 can do that.

The 15-p100dx is the only one with an optical drive. It would be the only one that you can install two 2.5 inch internal drives on.
