Dishonest claim of Windows Media Center download as FREEWARE

claming Windows Media Center could be downloaded as FREEWARE (with the small size of around 45kb !)
doesn't lead to any free download of Windows Media Center; only to Microsoft site how to get it through different Windows (upgraded) versions or how to BUY it!! I's NOT free!

But why claiming Windows media Center to be FREE when all I see it has NEVER been free, or what? (No matter broken link or not!) According to the redirected site (Microsoft Windows) when pressing' download' you have to buy it or upgrade Windows! Look for yourself through my posted link in first post! Or was it free for a while, since NOW it doesn't seem to be free, according to Microsoft!

I know there was a time when they were handing out keys for it for free, shortly after Win8 was released. I think you were meant to supply a Win8 key to get the media center upgrade key, but there was a bug in it.

Ok, thanks. So that's the reason why tomsguide provided a link to it for free download, Maybe now the link should be removed or the text changed to say that it is not freeware anymore! Thanks again for your answer above!

The thing is, it is free, it comes with the Windows versions listed. And I think at some point you could download it for XP but my memory could be off on that. But since XP is now burried in the mind of Microsft, I'm sure they yanked that download which is why that page about it needs to be updated.

You are not bying Media Center when you buy any of those Windows versions, you are bying Windows and getting the Media Center included along with the other functions of Windows.

I actually think you can "rip" the Media Center program from a system that has it, do a web search on that and see if it can be moved. Once again, going by my memory here so I could be wrong.
