Hello,

My audio through my TV's speakers are terrible. I do however have an amazing surround speaker system for my computer. I am trying to see if I can somehow get my TV's audio to steam through my PC via a SPDIF audio cable. I have a SPIDIF out for audio on my TV and a SPIDIF port on the back of my PC as well.

Thanks.

the spdif port on your pc is typically output only. some soundcards like the creative z have spdif inputs though.

the easiest way to connect is likey through a box like the image below which converts the digital spdif connection to an analog rca connection. you would then just need some rca to 3.5mm adapters. (if 5.1)

this would not require the pc to be on when you use the speakers or require you to buy any parts for your pc you may not need.

the above is a 5.1 model, though if you only need 2.1 cheaper versions exist which do just that. if you want 5.1 make sure your tv can actually output 5.1 via spdif as many do...
