I would like an explanation or clarification that may seem funny, but I'm trying to understand. Is there any hope to find some files on my smartphone (Galaxy Note 1) after a failed update? My phone is not working. How do I restore my ROM Samsung, if this can be done? Because I'm more interested for my files (mostly handwritten with the stylus) I also asked a recovery company and told me that if not lit cell, there is no chance of finding files. Can you confirm or think of something more? Thank you.

you can try this software

http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/

if you had a samsung account saved it may have backed everything up for you

otherwise you would have had to backup everything to your google drive

Recovery companies get data from hard drives, very very different then the chips on cell phones.

You never said at what point does the phone fail to boot-up.
Is the phone rooted with a unlocked bootloader? If so then you have more options.

You might be able to reflash the software back onto the phone to get it working again, but this will wipe out your files on internal storage.

Let this be a lesson to you, always backup files that are important to you. You should also keep all personal files on sd card and not the phone's internal storage.
