My Dad has asked me to come up with a way for him to play music from his desktop to an outdoor deck. I've been searching but haven't found what I would consider to be a good solution. I know it's possible to use bluetooth, but with an effective range of 30-50 feet and having a wall between the desktop and where he wants to sound, I'm not sure it's a viable solution. I've been looking for a stand alone wifi speaker but haven't really come up with anything that is in my price range or around $100. Does anyone know of something that fits this description, or perhaps an alternate solution. I have considered building a setup from a raspberry-pi but I'm not sure that I want another device to have to troubleshoot.....

Thanks for your help.

This Rocki adapter can work with an existing speaker to make it wifi. You are correct that wifi has much better range than Bluetooth.

Another solution is the Amazon Echo. It is $99 for Amazon prime members, but otherwise it is over your budget.
