So I received my Sennheiser G4ME ONE's to try. I bought them on amazon since I have been wanting to test Sennheiser brand.

I've been using Siberia V2 headset for a long time now, and am wanting to upgrade.

I've been testing my Siberia's vs my Sennheiser's now on multiple games & music.

I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong, need a sound card or what - because my Siberia's sound better to me than the Sennheisers (which have tons of praise). I've tested with and without Razer virtual surround sound 7.1 and still the Siberia's appear to me to have better stereo and virtual 7.1 surround.

After reading so many reviews about Sennheiser products, this doesn't seem right.

I can agree with that. I like some good bass, and I think that the main reason that the G4ME One's don't sound as good is that I am used to the closed style. Which leads me to think that the G4ME ZERO's would be better because they are closed.

Unless there are suggestions for other better gaming headsets around $200 and/or audiophile headphones?

Okay thank you for the suggestion, I personally would be looking for something that doesn't really require an amp or anything, just some naturally great sounding headphones/headset.

When I got my Siberia V2s I was satisfied right out of the box without any tweaking. I'm trying to find that again.

If I were you,I would stick with what you have. Senheisser pc360 (same as yours) is one of the best audio positioning accuracy on the market for fps gaming. The more the headset has bass the worst it is for trying to track footsteps. I play CSGO and rank global elite. You can add me for proof, if you like. My pc 360 has never failed me. I suggest getting a good sound card or dac if you play games like bf4. If you play CS, no need for a sound card. Simply plugging in your on board would sound good.

Surround sound is nice in games, but truthfully I listen to music more than I pay attention to hearing footsteps in games. Virtual 7.1 surround sound is usually good enough for me, that's why I just use Razer Surround.

Wow, that guide is very useful. It's so hard choosing a new headset. I mean, Siberia V2 is like $50-60, I'm sure there are many that are far better for 150-200?

Definitely. You can here the difference in sound quality, provided that your onboard audio isn't crap.

Speaking from experience here. I had a pair of Audio Technica ATH M50s that sounded like a different pair of headphones after using them with my laptop instead of my desktop (which at the time used a low end FM2+ motherboard).

Haha, well my motherboard is the ASUS Sabertooth FX990 R2.0. It's a high end motherboard, so I don't Think it has shitty on-board audio, lol. This is frustrating, I really wanted to love the Sennheiser's.

I can tell.. :p.

Besides the sound quality, I am going to return them anyway because since I got the G4ME ONE headset which is open back, everyone in my house can hear my music at max volume, it's got some serious openness.

Ears are like noise. It needs to breath. besides, open back helps you sweat less while youre in an intensive game compare to a closed headset. ;) Oh and if you have ohms level option for your sound card or on board, make sure its >50 ohms or you might find it distorted or can even possibly break the headset.

Haha, I've never had an issue with closed headsets. The ones I use now are closed, and my ears are never hot or uncomfortable. I actually don't have a sound card, so :/

Your 990FX's onboard audio chipset will work great.

I agree that open headphones can be problematic when you have others around you... I have a semi open pair currently and if I want to listen at comfortable levels everyone around me can hear my music

Exactly, but does open back and closed back really have as big a difference as I'm thinking?
