can I upgrade my HP Envy 15-j010sr cpu from i3 to i7

Technically you can since both CPU are socket FCPGA946 which means they are to be soldered directly into the motherboard. However, you are going to face two major obstacles:

1. The BIOS (which contains a list of acceptable CPUs) will likely not recognize the CPU, thus preventing the laptop from booting up.
2. The i7 produces a lot more heat so you are very likely going to have overheating issues.
