First look at the tech specs and see if it is worth the upgrade.

My overview:

The i7-720QM is more powerful with four times the amount of threads of your current processor but it has a higher TDP (this means that installing this could overheat your laptop).

The i7-620M is less vertically the same as your current CPU just with a 1MB bigger cache and a slightly higher clock speed. Not worth the upgrade in my opinion.

Summary:

So if you need to upgrade the 720QM is the one which will give you the biggest performance increase however, depending on how good your laptop is at cooling, it may over heat.

What is the reason that you want to upgrade the an i7? I think it would be fairly expensive and unpractical to start switching the CPU around.

Before you buy one, you need to make sure you get an i7 that will work. Does your motherboard have the Intel HD graphics? If you do, you cannot go to the Clarksfield quad core i7's, as they do not have the IGP on the CPU.
