Hi chris slipknot,

Does your laptop charge when its connected to AC adapter. Try doing a flea power by removing the battery and holding on to the power button for 10-15 secs. Put back the battery and try turning on the system. Also as said by qazzi try reseating the ram. Could you please tell me what is the light status on the power button.

Thanks mate, 1st when its plugged in the charge light comes on for like 5 secs then goes off, and when turned on the power light is on(white) but ive realised that its not the proper power supply, its an hp 1! After tryin all that you's said n changin the hdd over it turned it on n the screen flickered wi sum lines n what looked like static briefly but then all that remained was the back light n i cud hear the hdd spinnin this time but then no more progress, but strangely it wudnt turn off no matter how long i pressed the power button so took battery out! Now when turn on i hear hdd still but no screen then battery died n i suspect this power supply is no good! What's your thoughts mate??

Hi chris slipknot,

Try charging it with a Dell branded adapter if you have any and see if it charges. When you say you can hear the hard drive spin and see light on the power button try connecting an external monitor to your laptop check for display.
