Boot Laptop to BIOS on External Monitor

My laptop screen shattered recently and I have been trying to get it to boot to an external monitor in order to change boot priorities and options, but i am unable to do so. My laptop model is a Sony Vaio PCG-3C2L and there seems to be very little support for it. I know there is an option somewhere in the bios that enables booting to an external monitor on startup, but i cant find any videos of the bios or images that can assist me in changing the option blindly.

I have tried:
- resetting bios
- booting up and immediately closing the lid, while spamming f2
- completely disconnecting the broken internal lcd
- using fn-F7 when in the bios (worth a try)
and none of it was able to display the bios.

I know there is no problem with the VGA port or the graphics on the laptop because i am able to boot to an Ubuntu install disk and have it display on the external monitor with no problems.

Is there any other way of getting the bios to display on my external monitor? If not, are there any (if possible) software solutions for Ubuntu or windows that i can use to change bios settings from within the os?

I'm not talking about getting the OS to display on the monitor, it can already do that (somewhat). I'm talking about getting the laptop to display the bios on start up so that i can change settings in there, which it wont do. It runs for a few minutes, the disk drive is heard spinning up, then the monitor receives the signal from the Ubuntu install disk. It does not display anything until getting to an OS.
