Help with purchase please. GTX 980M 4GB vs GTX 980M 8GB

Hi I am trying to decide between 2 laptops (or any others if you suggest any good ones)

My main question is, is the GTX 980M 8GB worth the $300 price difference vs the Asus' GTX 980M 4GB? What exactly is the extra 4GB ram used for?

That's VRAM and its used for antialiasing and some other stuff. 8GB is probably too much though.

id definitely get the Asus. It has better build quality, cooling and sound dampening as well. Plus the keyboards are just amazing.

How about in terms of performance/video card. Is it a big jump with the 8GB version?

not in the slightest. You won't notice any difference in mainstream titles

No. ASUS has 8GB more RAM and a larger SSD storage. The extra 4GB VRAM isn't going to make much of a difference. Get the ASUS laptop.

I would get the cheapest one as 4 GB more doesn't make a difference unless you're running 4K.
