I have an i5-4590 (3.3 Ghz Haswell) with 16 gigs of Kingston Ram (2x8gb sticks in dual channel)
Chrome is installed on SSD Samsung Pro 840.

My GF has interesting internet habits, like using 75+ tabs on a regular basis. She has around 90 tabs open on Chrome, and when she does, task manager says its using around 95% of my physical memory.

I just clicked on a link and it opened Chrome, which had all of her tabs open. So like 90 tabs open up in addition to the link i just clicked. I go to kill the program, hit the X at top right, and it takes like over a 60 seconds and the program is not responding. I had to end task in task manager. Is this normal? I kinda figured this new build would be pretty stout and able to stand up to her browsing style.

So, is this normal? Do I have a problem?

It all depends what you are running in these tabs. If it is a static image, it probably will handle them. But since most web sites these days are full of flash/video/ads/javascript/other crap, they are very demanding on the browser, so the more you open, the more you are loading your CPU.
In Chrome (and I think, every other modern browser) every tab is an isolated process, so closing 90 tabs is like killing 90 proceses which takes time. I am curious, though, how you (or your GF) navigates thru 90 tabs - you should have like 10 feet-wide screen to accomodate lal of them.
