FN key not working

I have a Dell Inspiron running Windows XP and the "FN" key stopped working. The main problem is that I cannot adjust the brightness and it is stuck on very bright. HELP! Thanks.

Nope, I manually replaced the keyboard in the laptop.

If that is what you did, maybe it caused the problem.

Have you tried unlocking the num pad?

So - you put another keyboard in and one key isn't working? Or are other keys also not working?

Try a PC keyboard plugged into its usb port.

I replaced the keyboard because I was having the FN key problem. Yes, I did unlock the num pad and that made no difference.
